Great Things To Do in Barbados

'Great Train Hike'

Sports & Recreation: GREAT TRAIN HIKE, February 20th 2005

About The Hikes Jan-Mar Apr-Jun Jul-Sep Oct-Dec

Join us as we hike the old train line from Fairchild St. to Belleplaine.

The "train" starts walking from the Bridgetown Terminus (now the Fairchild Street Bus Station -- park in Independence Square) at 6.00am. We pass through the following old Stations to deposit or pick up passengers (remaining distance to Belleplaine noted in brackets).

Fairchild St (24 miles)
Bulkeley (18 1/2 miles)
Carrington (15 miles)
Three Houses (11 miles)

(picnic lunch in Consett Cutting)

Bath (8 miles)
Bathsheba (4 miles)
Barclays Park (2 miles)
St Andrew's Station (Belleplaine)

"Passengers" may join and get off at any Station, or walk the whole route.

Note that Fairchild St. to Carrington is about the same distance and time as a regular "Medium" hike and Bathsheba to Belleplaine is roughly the same time and distance as a regular afternoon hike.

At each Station there is a mobile shop with drinks, snacks, T-shirts, books, brochures etc. available.

The Planning Committee consists of the Barbados National Trust (426-2421) and Treading Lightly (425-0073).
